Lantern of Hope is a psychology practice providing services for children, adolescents, and adults in the Richmond area. Our mission is to provide compassionate services to help individuals achieve better emotional health and harmony in their relationships with others. As a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and the owner of Lantern of Hope, Dr. Heather Bender offers a range of services designed to address your mental health needs. With over 15 years of experience, she provides individual therapy, family therapy, marital therapy, and parenting support and consultation. These services address a range of problems such as depression, anxiety, relationship issues, school and work stress, and life transitions such as divorce and grief/bereavement.
Dr. Bender integrates components of many evidence-based treatments, such as cognitive-behavioral and exposure therapy, for an approach to care that is adapted to the unique needs of each patient. She believes that a multidisciplinary approach to care is the most effective and therefore works closely with primary care physicians, psychiatrists, teachers, guidance counselors, and other professionals. In the context of therapy, Dr. Bender will create a caring connection with you and develop a thorough understanding of your treatment goals. She provides emotional support and guidance to families and marriages in crisis. She aims to empower her clients to create balance in their lives and greater joy in their relationships.
